Today, more than a third of workers are searching actively or casually for a different job. As a result, U.S. employers spend $2.9 million per day looking for replacement workers. That's $1.1 billion per year. Ouch!
According to Gallup, only 34% of Americans love their job right now. However, the average percentage of people who love their job jumps to 73% at the best companies. Clearly, we have more work to do to improve the health of our cultures in organizations all over the country.
We believe that what helps someone thrive and excel in their career can be very individualized and multi-faceted. Thus, at least half of the responsibility for thriving at work also rests on each person.
Here are 10 factors to consider:
Leadership
Is your leadership constantly supportive of your role on the team? Does your leadership inspire everyone to keep growing?
Mentorship
Is there someone on your team that actively mentors you? Do you have a role model on your team?
Friendships
Developing friendships with some (or all) of your teammates can simultaneously amplify your career well-being and your social well-being.
Alignment
Are the company’s values in alignment with your values?
Strengths-Based Teamwork
Does everyone on your team truly empower you to look for opportunities every day to do what you do best?
It is our vision that everyone in our community will know their strengths because we know that strengths-based teamwork improves communication, collaboration, and commitment!
Autonomy
Are you given freedom to inject your own creativity into how you perform your job?
It’s our belief that an ideal job doesn’t just “fall into your lap”. You create it!
Growth Mindset
Do you have the mindset of a lifelong learner? Do you look for ways to uplevel your knowledge, skills, and abilities every year?
Purpose
Is your work fulfilling? Does the mission of your company resonate with you deeply?
Passion
We believe that passion is another essential component to thriving in your career and sustaining success. Are you passionate about the people you serve? Are you passionate about the work that you do?
Vision
Our vision is always bigger than just us, right?!? Do you have a vision for your work that will impact lives in ways that matter?
